How we give back.
One of Fiji’s charms that draws visitors back time and again, is the warmth, kindness and generosity shown to visitors - to everyone.
It feels as genuine as the greeting “Bula” that’s always accompanied with a smile and goodwill. It makes you want to do something in return, and Only Fiji does in our own way.
Travellers tell us repeatedly that Fiji is one of the friendliest, most community-minded countries they’ve visited and one of the most beautiful. We asked ourselves how we could best contribute to community and at the same time minimise our impact on the stunning yet fragile environment.
“There’s something so beautiful about giving as well as receiving. Fijians give in spades. It’s good to be able to offer something in return. It could be visiting a village, donating to a cause, promoting their work, or simply stopping for a chat."
Rise Beyond the Reef
We’re proud to support income-generating initiatives such as Rise Beyond the Reef. It enables women in rural areas to use their talents as artisans to earn a living while remaining with their families in their villages.
They produce a range of contemporary handmade products, often using traditional skills such as weaving and printing. Wherever possible, they work with local materials - shells, pandanus leaves and barkcloth - to make home decor, wearable and decorative items.
You can also view and purchase their products locally in Fiji at retail outlets and now globally online.
